01 Questions
Common questions and their answers.
Do I need PRE on every track?
No. Start with the tracks that benefit from it. A wider setup with connected PRE instances and BUS is another creative option, not a requirement.
Does it have to sound heavily saturated?
No. Start gently and listen in the arrangement. Model choice and input level let you explore different amounts and kinds of colour.
Can I buy PRE or BUS on its own?
No. PRE/BUS is one product with two plugins and one serial number.
Do PRE and BUS need separate serial numbers?
Enter the same purchased serial number separately in PRE and BUS to activate both products. Their 14-day trials are separate.
How does the 14-day trial work?
Open the plugin and go to OPTIONS, LICENSE, 14-DAY TRIAL. Enter your name and email; no serial number is needed. The plugin is fully functional for 14 days and shows the remaining days. PRE and BUS each have their own trial. An internet connection is required.
How do I activate my licence?
One serial number activates both tools. Enter the same number in PRE and in BUS, under OPTIONS, LICENSE; activation requires an internet connection.
What happens without a licence or trial?
The plugin loads and stays in the signal chain. From the manual: “audio passes through unprocessed with latency preserved.”
Which plugin formats are supported?
AU and VST3 on macOS, VST3 on Windows. AAX is not available. A standalone application is not included; a plugin host is required.
Which systems are supported?
macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon Macs; Intel Macs are not supported. Windows x64, Intel Core i5-12400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X class or better; the details are under System requirements. One installer per system contains PRE and BUS.
What do ECO, NORMAL and HIGH mean?
They are the three quality levels of the sound models. NORMAL uses 48 kHz models, HIGH uses the 96 kHz original models. The setting is made separately for REALTIME and BOUNCE. The model sample rate is independent of the project sample rate.
In which languages are help and manual available?
The HELP section inside the plugin and the manuals are available in English, German, French and Spanish.
What is the difference between NORMAL and HIGH?
The initial settings use NORMAL for realtime playback and HIGH when the host reports offline rendering. You can choose the quality modes, and existing projects retain their saved choices. Realtime exports follow REALTIME.
What is MIX LINK?
MIX LINK enables shared console-load interaction within the group you assign with CONNECT. Activity in the connected PREs contributes to the console response; CONSOLE LOAD in BUS sets the amount. Each plugin processes only its own signal.
Does MIX LINK route audio between the plugins?
No. MIX LINK transfers control information only. You still route tracks, groups and the mix bus in your DAW.
Is BABICZ BUS a mastering limiter?
No. BUS shapes tone, density and dynamic behaviour. It does not provide loudness limiting or protect the output from overs. Use a separate limiter.
What does TEXTURE above 100 percent do?
At 100 percent TEXTURE represents the hardware reference. Higher values deliberately increase the model's harmonic and tonal signature beyond it. This is a software extension of the original character.
Where can I find explanations of the controls?
Enable HELP for contextual Flying Help at the control you are using. The illustrated combined manuals cover both plugins in English, German, French and Spanish.
